Orthodontic emergency Loose wire
If the main wire has come out from the brace or tube on back of the molar tooth, try to reinsert the wire carefully with a pair of needle-nosed plier and tweezer. If the wire is not sticking you, place a piece of wax over the area. If still wire is sticking you and wax doesn't help, the wire can be cut with a small wire cutter or nail clipper close to the back of the last brace. This is the last option when professional help is unavailable at the instance.
If a brace is loosen from a tooth, it usually remains tied with main wire with one of the colored a-ties which is not a cause for an emergency visit. In such case, you can use tweezers to reposition the brace if it flips around the wire and becomes source of irritation. Call at your earliest convenience in such case as it may be necessary to schedule a separate visit to repair the loose brace, since repairs of this nature usually take an additional time. Sometimes this brace will be repaired when more braces are being applied. This will help to avoid missing school or other important events too frequently due to dental treatment.
Pain after visit
If your teeth become sore after treatment, we recommend you that you take an analgesic such as acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol) or ibuprofen (e.g., Advil, Motrin). But beware, do this only if you have no allergies to medication. You can also try diluted hydrogen peroxide or a cup of warm water & teaspoon of salt to soothe the pain.
Broken retainer or braces
If a part of your braces or your retainer breaks, save the piece and call to set up a repair visit.
Space between your teeth
After treatment, if you notice the small space being created between your teeth, don't panic. This is quite normal and expected as teeth move into different positions, particularly in the early stages of treatment. Most of times, it means that a broader smile is being generated. This small spaces will be filled eventually.

If a rubber separator falls out, try to repair it by yourself. You can do it by threading a couple pieces of floss through it and then pulling it under and up between the teeth. Then remove the floss. Call Midtown dental arts if notations were such that replacement is necessary.
Gums are bleeding
If you experiecne any bleeding when brushing or lossing, it usually means there is a local area of infection which has to be treated carefully.
